The Fruit Cellar
I remember as a child my mother had a room in her basement called a fruit cellar. It had a stone floor so to stay cool and shelves, alot of shelves where she kept fruits and jams, peaches, beans and tomato’s. My favorite were the big, fat, golden peaches. We would often play in the basement but we were told to stay out of the fruit cellar. Mom would also caution us about the jars being bumped or moved. Each jar was sealed so the fruit would stay fresh and good to eat in months to come. Preserved were these jams and jellies, also fruits and some vegetables. It seemed like alot of work when I would watch the process of boiling water and washing jars. Be careful, go play mom would say while canning and preserving. If the hot water spilled someone was sure to be burned. The water was HOT…..
Preserved– keep maintained, protected, looked after, keep up, upheld, sustained, defended, perpetuated, to keep alive in memory and quality.
Boy do I remember those peaches…. and isn’t that what our mothers were doing while filling the shelves of the fruit cellars, preserving food for a purpose, to have wonderful, fresh, good tasting food in the winter months too. Work, yes it was, but was it worth it? Yes it was….
On a spiritual bases as a christian it is extremely important for you the preserved to understand this, it puts you into an enormously powerful stance. See yourselves surrounded by the loving, eternal, constant protection of God Himself.
When we do encounter evil, we need not feel apprehensive. The classic example of Job, is Satan could not touch him with out permission. And after that dreadful ordeal was over, the end result for Job was enormous benefit and blessing than, now and through eternity.
God watches over the christian. He is our fruit cellar. It is prayer that keeps our fruit cool so not to spoil. Knowing Gods commands warns us to of the bumps, boiling water and loose seals. If we ignore his word our fruit is sure to spoil and benefit no one.
Alive in memory and quality. This would be too, a testimony. Oh to have a memory that our children walk in truth. Memory stays alive and lives on in the heart of man. Good, pleasant and bad memory.
Preservation is important.
Mercy, peace and love are important ingredients of your preservation. Remember how the Lord having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not. Their fruit went bad.
The angels which kept not their first state, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto judgment of the great day…. These have gone in a way of reward that carry spots in their feasts of charity. Enoch prophesied of these saying, Behold, he cometh with 10,000’s of his saints to convince all that are not preserved. It is better to have the admiration of God than of men… Preservation went sour.
